I don't really have an awful lot of friends available that would be willing to be in a film (only one, really) so wasn't sure how to work on my own projects. I write a few things and want to get experience with working on a series - any advice on how to go about filming short films and web series with little support from others?

You can post adverts on StarNow asking if people want to get involved who live locally to you. I would advise doing one for crew and a seperate one for actors once you have your crew together. I posted one for actors a few hours ago and it already has 6 applications. Hope this helps.

In addition, you can always use facebook. There are a lot of groups where you can find people who would be willing to act or be part of your crew in your short films/web series. It'll be difficult, I'm guessing, but what do you have to lose?

In addition to what others have suggested, if there are any art schools or universities nearby, I would post flyers on the bulletin boards of the drama and film school department. Make sure to clarify whether it will be paid or if you need volunteers.

    Good luck.
