Just a few questions to those doing the accelerated 4 year GEM course.

How is the workload compared to your previous undergrad?

Besides the money for tuition for the first year, what amount of money would you recommend to have saved for the course for living expenses? I'm aware the maintenance loans/grant is a lot less.

Did you or others on the course work previously before starting the course or did you enter after graduation?

So far I'm finding that medicine is less complex/difficult than my previous degree, but that it requires a lot more volume. It's also a lot more contact time than I had before (but since I only had 1-2 hours that's not saying much!)

Maintenance loan isn't necessarily a lot less- I'm getting more this year than I ever did in my previous degree. This may have changed for next year, I'm not sure!

On my course a lot of people seem to have come straight out of their previous degrees, but there are about a quarter of us who have had time out from education and worked or whatever too!
