Well, my family is entirely stable and normal. And I'm still a rather masculine looking troll-child. C'est la vie.

Interesting...

I often wonder how people come up with the idea of doing this kind of research.

I technically fit into that category but I wonder, could one change that? I don't feel butch nor ugly, lol, I certainly have a feminine figure (I likes my hourglass :p:). However my homelife would prolly only be seen as 'broken' till I was about 12/13. After that it was still separated but good. Could I have crammed in some added oestrogen in the last 5yrs?! I do remember being a lot more of a tomboy before and generally more masculine, and then became more feminine - but naturally I attribute that to puberty.

Hm. Anyways.

If she says she's butch and ugly and hasn't posted a picture of herself, then she's probably butch and ugly.

Didn't read the whole article, but I suppose the logic behind it might be this:
Because girls from a harsher background needs to fight more for survival/emotional survival and more competition etc, or they may feel more aggressive cus life's been hard, which in turns make them competitive in order to survive the harshness - therefore testosterone level increases (the more testosterone, the more competitive, hence men are usually more competitive than women) - and the increase in T. level in turns make the girls look more masculine. And the more masculine they look, they more unattractive they would generally seem to the majority.

It makes sense, biologically-speaking. It's just nature-nurture. And I'm sure it's not all nurture, cus you're gonna look just as feminine if your genes dictate it that way, really. I know girls who look very feminine, very attractive and they're from homes where the parents have separated or harsh family backgrounds.
