    When showing Covalent Bonding in dot and cross diagrams can you just draw the outer shell of each atom, or do you have to draw the whole thing? Please help!

    the whole thing..... just make sure it is clear to the examiner

    no u dont need to show the whole thing,otherwise u could be there for ages for something like a sulphate ion!but make it clear,show the bonding electrons.

    they arn't going to make her draw something complex which will take forever....

    Yeh, thanks as well. But hopefully the examiners won't expect me to draw some big ion, just something small like oxygen or something!

    Anyway thankyou both for your help ... I getting back to the books!

    its definitely just the outside shell. says so on syllabus(AQA).
