I am particularly interested in banking finance and accounting also insurance etc.
    I am based in London
Any recommendations of firms which offer work experience or if anyone knows any specific contact details or maybe firms that would be willing to offer me the work experience would be much appreciated

I can't help you with specific details but I have some general advice:
    1) Research companies
    2) Apply (hand-deliver a letter of application and a CV - you could also email them these so that they have a virtual copy)
    3) Get contacts - stay in touch with interesting people you meet; last night I was at an event at the House of Lords with a top barrister and Dwain Chambers - all because the barrister was at my school's open day and my mother (who is on the 'current parents' team) spoke to him and said that her child was interested in law. Also, if you make any useful contacts then keep in touch because even if they don't seem relevant now, you never know when you might need them again.
