# Mean help watch

1. Struggling with this question, please show me how to work it out have been trying with trial and error but cant do it

Jeremy caught 8 fish in a contest.
The Mean weight of the fish was 4.275

He forget to make his own record of the weight of the last fish, but the first 7 were:
4.8kg, 5.2kg, 6.6kg, 2kg, 3.5kg, 4.9kg, 4kg

What was the weight of the last fish
2. if you have 8 fish and you know the mean, you can easily find the total weight of the 8 fish.

Wow thanks for the help, read the question again
4. The mean is just the average. To find the mean, you add the numbers together and divide by the total number of groups. Here the mean weight is the weight of each fish / 8, right? Working back words, the total weight of the fish must = 4.275 X 8 in order to have a mean of 4.275. Add up the total of the 7 weights given to you, and subtract this from 4.275 X 8, and that will give the weight of the missing fish
5. As far as I remember, you multiply 4.75 by 8 to get 38. Then from 38 takeaway the other weights to get your answer?

(edit)- oops just saw the above haha
