There's lots of universities in London, so obviously the experience at each one will be different. However, at most universities in London, you're not so close to the places you'd want to go on nights out as elsewhere. As well as that, nights out are usually very expensive- so people tend to go out clubbing less, and spend more time having house/flat parties.
Obviously, there's lots to do in London, but things can cost a lot more, and there can be less opportunity for part time jobs compared to elsewhere in the country. Yes, there is a bigger loan, but it's often taken up by the higher cost of accommodation. Many students will live further away from their unis compared to elsewhere.
You'll also usually have higher numbers of international students, and students living at home (neither of these things are necessarily bad, just different).
I think there's lots of advantages to being a student in a smaller, more affordable city, compared to London.
