Can someone tell me the uses of cells grown in fermentors for the food industry, pharmaceutical and the proteomics industry? c:

I'm just going to give a few examples, but this should be very easy to find more examples in depth using search engines.

For the food industry, microbes such as L. lactis are used for dairy products such as cheese.

Pharmaceuticals, a very typical example is the use of E. coli containing a plasmid with a human insulin gene (to produce insulin on a large scale.

Proteomics, cells grown in fermentors can be used to produce important enzymes (which are proteins) on a large scale.

All of these processes are vital for global industry currently.
