Dont expect anything from here, but worth a shot.

Anyone have any insight into the UK Coverage team at Barclays?

Have seen with UK teams at other banks all they basically do is Takeover Code and legal/process work. Is it the same at Barclays or do the guys actually originate deals?

Also, what's modelling exposure like for the juniors (analyst/associate)?

mostly is execution work at analyst level, and there is exposure to deal origination - generally working alongside sector groups.

team split is divided into cohorts where if you're joining as a grad you'll be allocated a range of specific sectors (which i assume ur not).

there is a lot of process work, as that's the general go to team with regards to managing the deal process for uk corp. but the team is involved heavily in modelling - valuation/accretion/dilution etc.. etc.., where specific industry assumptions etc.. are cleared by the specific sector teams. if modelling is what you're looking for, then you can expect some hefty exposure there at a jr level.

    team is absolutely gr8

from my experience in dealing the Barclays and knowing a few folks who work there, origination is usually done by sector teams.
In my experience generally, country teams are there to do the process work and deal with local issues. So mainly the boring part of execution. Maybe modelling is sector specific knowledge isn't key.
