Fallowfield or Victoria Park??

Hello

I just made Manchester my firm and I was thinking about filling up my accommodation form.Which would you recommend Victoria Park or Fallowfield ?? I am not that much into the “whole drinking and clubbing thing” so would it be a problem if I apply for Fallowfield?? Also is Victoria Park a dull place because the last thing I need is to end up in a place that is too boring :p:.

I was thinking of going for catering and I had difficulty in deciding which area to choose to stay. I just needed a bit of info from people who have actually lived there. My course us on the north campus by the way .

Thanx :wavey:
Hi there, congrats on your offer! I may be joining you next year

Erm...to be honest, Victoria Park isn't dull by any means! There are a few nice pubs around here, although I recommend the Rampant Lion next to Opal Gardens (the hall im seriously considering...old postgrad me). It's large, full of atmosphere, and has a beer garden, woohoo!

Furthermore at Victoria Park, Oxford Road is only a 10 minute walk away and from there you have all sorts of good bars. For clubs, you can get a 60p bus either to Fallowfield or the City Centre, so again it's not too hard to go for a big night if you do feel like it!

You seem like a Victoria Park person in my humble opinion. But Fallowfield isn't all just pubs and clubs either...lots of nice parks etc there also. To be honest, it's up to you...all I know is I'm going for Victoria Park! (or the city centre)
Both aren't that bad but it's entirely your choice, I'd suggest you go there and see for yourself
Fallowfield.
Victoria Park.
Opt for fallowfield. its got better transport connections for getting into uni/town or didsbury the other way, its easier to join in things eg.sports cos the armitage is there and Platt fields is close by whihc is nice in the summer.

ALSO, lots of people who live in victoria park get annoyed by the lack of supermarket. despite sainsburys not normally being my 1st choice, it is extremely handy and makes life easier.

Fallowfield definitely in the first year. Vicky Park is good later on or as a post-grad as its quieter. The Red Lion rocks but there's more choice of pubs, wine bars etc in Fallowfield. For supermarkets near Victoria Park there is a Tesco Local on Oxford Rd now you can cut through Hathersage Rd.

There is that tesco, and i suppose the lidl too. But the tesco is only a smallish one so you can't get cheap stuff like other bigger supermarkets

Yeah its probably easier to live in Vicky Park if you have a car, as you need to drive to a big supermarket but there are loads of parking spaces. Other way round in Fallowfield.:s-smilie:
FALLOWFIELD FALLOWFIELD FALLOWFIELD. I can't stress this enough

I lived in Pankhurst Court in my first year and while I did have a fantastic time (as you will do too, wherever you end up, provided you make the effort) Victoria Park is pretty dead. You DON'T get the best of both worlds living inbetween campus and Fallowfield, it just means it takes you quite a while to get to everything. You're also a good 5-10 minute walk away from Oxford Road and the cheap busses. And whenever you go out it'll be in Fallowfield or in Town. there isn't anywhere to go out in Victoria Park. also, chances are, all of your friends will live in fallowfield.

Oh, and there are no shops in Victoria Park...Fallowfield has the big sainsburys.

There's a very good reason the following 2 years have been spent in Fallowfield.

Seriously...Fallowfield...
