mention what got you interested into mechanical engineering in the first place
usually this is stumbling upon some kind of medium, or an event etc. where you have that realisation that you really like this topic

don't say you've been interested in it your whole life etc.

You know you have to make it original, and clearly (but SUBTLY) show your 'passion' for the subject; (but please, for da lav o jezus, don't be desperate, unrealistic, pretentious, creepy or fake).
Cliche, but the first sentence really should immediately grab the reader's attention. This doesn't mean histrionics or melodrama; it should be brief, to the point, well structured and engaging.
Obviously nobody can write it for you (plagiarismisbadnewsandstuff), but I would recommend you read as many personal statements as possible - and not just from your own subject. They'll give you an idea of what's successful and what's not, enabling you to determine the most effective structure and content for yourself (thoagainplagiarism=badnewsson).
