Human society has gone soft. 100s of years ago people where hard and life was brutal. Now soldiers have turned into metrosexuals and would not stand a chance against a real knight.

I agree but I find some people are a bit hypocritical about this. On the one hand they will be perma-complaining about how the world should lighten up about Jeremy Clarkson's jokes or feminists being offended by rape comments etc but then they start frothing at the mouth when they read that Jeremy Corbyn didn't sing the national anthem or somebody didn't wear a poppy.

Also if you champion free speech and stand against the "thought police" then you have to be willing to accept that sometimes you're going to hear things that you don't like. When some Muslim kid on facebook starts mocking Lee Rigby's death then really that's someone using their free speech so you can't get het up about it.

And Frankie Boyle has started becoming a political commentator now complaining about hate given towards asylum seekers. Boyle loves being non-PC about different groups himself!

You choose to be offended. It is a choice. As the saying goes: "Offence is taken, not given".
One thing is offensive to some and not to others. But that is no reason to feel uncomfortable voicing an opinion. You cannot live constantly silencing yourself in fear for offending someone somewhere (who possibly doesn't even exist) but the PC police has to defend them anyway.

Like this guy yesterday on another thread - I'm paraphrasing loosely - "omg don't congratulate someone for leaving Islam cos some of us are muslim and are offended by that". Like I give a ****, seriously. Grow a thick skin or gtfo the internet, just don't bother me with your sensibilities.

Wtf? This is so goddamn offensive to humankind. As if at least one person would get offended over any little thing you say. Check your privilege, bigot.

You make it sound like caring about the feelings of other people is a crime. A lot of people complain about being persecuted by the "PC Police" for having an opinion when in reality, they're being attacked for saying deeply unpleasant and unacceptable things. Just because you've got a right to freedom of speech doesn't mean that everyone else has to accept everything you say, which is something a lot of "freedom-of-speech" activists complain about. They use their freedom of speech to be vile about other humans and then get deeply upset when people react negatively, using "political correctness" as some kind of fictitious enemy and persecutor to allow themselves to stay in denial about the fact that they're just being horrible.

Of course your opinion should be voiced whilst be pleasant and polite without implication of violence but caring about people's reaction to you shouldn't be the defining point of who you are.
No matter what you say, someone will be offended. That's it.
Whether you support gay marriage, or if you don't.
If you hate black people or if you don't.
So why be silent? When someone asks for your opinion, answer with honesty! If you want to disagree, then disagree!
I understand some people are passive and don't wish to offend and that's alright.

What bothers me is that there is an "ideal" opinion everyone wishes to uphold and anyone who doesn't necessarily agree are scum, backwards, etc.
