I'm studying Maths,Economics,ICT and Sociology at AS LEVEL. I have been telling my mum I want to drop maths and she has not allowed me. She assumes that if I drop maths, then it means that I do not want to school any more and I should go and look for job. But I have explained to her that is not the case. Then she keeps stating that my teachers at secondary school said I will be fine with A level maths, she believes I'm being lazy sincerely that is not the case. When I say this she compares me cousins and family friends that have gone through A levels.Saying that it should not be hard why am I complaining. SORRY FOR THE WAFFLING. CUT A LONG STORY SHORT LOL. SHE THINKS IF I DROP AN A LEVEL IT WILL AFFECT MY WHOLE CAREER AND I WONT GO TO UNIVERSITY. BUT I HAVE TRIED TO EXPLAIN. THANKS IF ANYONE CAN RESPOND. BTW I'M AFRICAN AND IN YEAR 12

Try and get a teacher to explain to her, or go to a university open day and get an admissions tutor to tell her. At the end of the day it isn't her life and she has no right to tell you, besides a DEGREE will affect your career not your a-levels, and she clearly has not done a-levels or she would not be saying they are easy!

Math is a great subject to have and if you drop it, it will hinder your chances but that doesnt mean you dont have a chance to go to university or go on to your career. but it does depend on what university course you want to do!

Not being rude but doing both ICT and Sociology may be risky, depending on what you plan to study at university.

Maybe at parents evening or something try to let your teachers explain the whole idea.
