Hi, it's been less than two weeks I have been working as a paralegal. luckily I have finally managed to get an aca trainee interview after literally one year of trying.

The assessment day is next week and cannot be re arranged. As I have just started working here, holidays are out of the question. I'm worried about how to take a day off. I know if I don't , I'll always end up regretting it.

I don't know if I can pull a sick day as I'll have to lie to my colleagues and act like I was ill the day before and which illness lasts just a day . supposing I pass this stage , It would be a mission getting another day off for the final stage :s

    any tips ?

You could request a days holiday, they may say you can take a day off as unpaid leave.
Or, you could pull a sicky, but taking a day sick from a job you've been at only a fortnight doesn't look good.

Depends how much you are willing to risk for this other job.

Just say you need an urgent doctors/dentists/medical appointment and the only time they can offer you is the day you need off.

they wont kill you for missing one day but people seeking jobs while employed need to be sensible dont go to every interview that you're offered only the ones you stand a realistic chance of getting

Yeah, I'd do this because they can't really say no and it looks better than pulling a sicky.
