Hello, I'm currently studying Economics and Business at Birkbeck, University of London. As much as I've tried to enjoy studying here, I still doubt this is the right university for me.
I like the course structure, which is the reason why I chose Birkbeck in the first place, and my lecturers are pretty nice, too. However, my university experience is far different from what I would have expected 2 years ago when I applied. Stupidly, I did not do much research on UK universities (I'm Italian) and my main focus was to move to London, rather than choosing the right university for me. Birkbeck is mainly concerned in guaranteeing higher education to ''mature students", most of whom are already working in their degree related fields. Although it may sound stupid to you, I don't feel at ease being in a class of almost all people being over their 30's and most of them being my parents' age.

I also thought that I would enjoy evening lectures as I didn't have to wake up early in the morning – truth is, having evening lectures means I can't go out with my friends or do sports more than once a week because otherwise my classes will clash.

Also, I feel peer pressured for not studying at a more reputable university (I know that birkbeck is pretty good, but I'm talking Oxbridge and similar ranked universities), as many people ask me why I don't study at a better uni. The fact is, I did have all the academic requirements to get into Oxbridge & similar unis, but I did not care at the time and didn't even try to apply there. My idea is that university should be an enjoyable experience along with being educational, and I am not really enjoying it at the moment.

Now, I would really like to transfer to another university, but I am not sure whether I should or not. As I'm already in my second year, I would re-do second year, as universities don't usually accept third year transfers.

I would like to move to either Durham, Bristol or Bath, and may take into consideration a few more.I am not sure if I should just hold tight another year and a half, or if I should apply to a new university and lose a year.
