    anyone know firstly how to work out bond polarity of molecules such as CH2Br2? Also how would you put HCl, HBr, HF and HI in increasing bond polarity?

    Difference in electronegativity between two atoms causes bond polarity ..

    Going from HCl down to HI the bond polarity decreases because the electronegativity/charge density of the halogen also decreases.
    This is due to:
    - Atomic radius increases down group
    - Shielding increases down group
    - Relative nuclear charge decreases down group (ratio of electrons to one proton is lower, lower charge density)
