Appearing to be a good listener in front of someone who is talking to you is all about creating an illusion to make it seem that you're immersed and engaged in the conversation. You have to pretend to be interested in what they're saying. There is a concept known as active listening which involves asking questions or making remarks which are relevant to what the other person is talking about. Nod your head a few times and make whatever facial expression that is appropriate for the conversation. Facial expressions and body language are key to expressing interest and are an essential part of the illusion of appearing to be a good listener. Try to think about what the other person's agenda is and respond accordingly.
