Tragus piercing

Hey, just looking for a bit of info/advice
Got my tragus pierced a few days ago, it was all fine, keeping it clean and whatnot.
My bf hit it by accident yesterday and it bled quite a bit. Cleaned it up as best as I can but you can still see blood kinda inside, under the ring, where you can't get at to clean it.
Don't want it to get infected or anything - any suggestions?
Thanks x

There's nothing you can do really except keep taking good care of it. Assuming you're doing proper aftercare in the first place, continue doing so.

Proper aftercare would be warm sea salt soaks (1/4 tsp sea salt to 8oz boiled water) - soaks being the operative word, not just dabbing at it with a cotton bud thing - twice a day.

A pierced tragus can take anywhere from two months to one year to fully heal. Like any other external piercing, it should be cleaned several times daily with a solution of warm water and non-iodized sea salt or a pre-mixed saline solution (like contact lens cleaner), and a mild antibacterial or antimicrobial soap. Harsh sterilizers like hydrogen peroxide, iodine, betadine and rubbing alcohol should be avoided as they promote scarring. Many piercers instead recommend applying tea tree oil to the site with a cotton swab; doing so can also help treat and prevent the formation of keloids. Be aware that tea tree oil can cause allergic reactions, and its application may also carry a higher risk of infection.

Use cotton pads soaked in salt water solution to soak it, that should take the blood off alot easier. Your boyfriend probably tore it slightly hence all the bleeding so make sure you take extra care keeping it clean.
I used a cotton bud to clean it dipped in surgical spirit and it really worked. Its better than cotton wool ball because you can get the dried blood/pus off easier! Just remember to wash your hands properly before!

No, don't do that. Surgical spirit should not be used on piercings. Either sea salt soaks, very mild, unscented soaps or just washing in the shower. Pretty much everything else is likely to do more harm than good.

Also, about the tea tree oil suggested earlier - it's much too harsh & drying for a healing piercing. It's only really recommended to help scarring, boils, etc on a fully healed piercing, and even then it is very harsh and you should be aware of that. And only use it diluted. But yes, not suitable for healing piercings!

It's not surprising you can't get the back off, there's not a lot of room between the end of the stud and your ear if you've got a normal earring it. Tbh you were really really foolish getting it pierced with a gun, and it's even worse that the place did it with a gun.. that place should be shut down ffs.

Don't be surprised if this piercing ****s your tragus up
Ouch, a gun. Needle all the way!

Uh ohhh, i do wish i had it with a needle now. It doesn't hurt at all, just a pain in the ass to change. I think ill leave it a few weeks to change it and try again.
It was a clamp-like thing they used, thats a gun, right?

Well maybe, im not sure what they used. Was it with something where the person put an earring into the gun, and then put it over the tragus, and then pressed a button so that the earring went through? http://images.google.co.uk/images?um=1&hl=en&q=piercing+gun&btnG=Search+Images

When piercing with a needle, normally they used a clamp and then pierce through the middle of it with a needle.

Thats what a clamp is!
Just clean it like you normally do, and you'll be fine.

I got my cartilage done, and ended play fighting with my brother, and he whacked me round the head with a pole, which made my piercing bleed.

Keep it clean and you'll be fine. If you're really worried then just go the where you got it pierced, and ask them what to do about it, and they might clean it out a bit.

I had my tragus piered about 6 months, it takes quite a while to settle down and heal. Even two months after i had it done it would still bleed if i knocked it. All i used was savalon so i could spray it on the back bit as it is hard to see in a mirror if you've cleaned it properly or not.
