Hi all, I was just wondering, if you are getting a reference from a school does it have to be from the head teacher? I already have my academic one lined up, but I'm not sure who to ask from the school I currently work at. I would have liked it to be my head of department as they know me better, but I have seen on here that it needs to be the head teacher.
Could it be my head of department instead?
    Thanks!

It's highly unlikely to be written by the headteacher themselves - that is a bit low down the list of things they do - but the protocol is that it will go out under their name. Your HOD will write it and the head will rubber stamp it.
