I've never called my mother "mum". I cringe whenever I think about it. I've always called her mummy or mother.
I don't like the idea of calling my father "dad". I call him daddy or father.
I am 22.

Mom (Brummie), and first name for my dad. My parents were 20 and 25 respectively when they had me. My grandad was known universally as 'daddy' and my dad didn't want to be assigned an 'old man title' in his 20s. My youngest sister, by another mother, calls him dad as he was more resigned to the title in his late 30s.

You're strange, how can you find "mum" cringey and the word "mummy" not cringey?

I think you'll find that Lady Mary and Lady Edith call their parents "mama" and "papa"Yes well, Lady Mary and Lady Edith are exceptions.
