Wondering if anyone can help me..as I did not complete my a levels, I went to university in September 2014 to do a foundation certificate of higher education, which enabled me to do a degree. I was funded for this by student finance England, and my online account said '4 years inc. foundation year'. I then started my degree at the same university, however I have now withdrawn from that course due to be needing to be closer to home. I would like to attend a closer university next year, but am unsure of my funding. I know you get the duration of your course plus one extra year, but in my case does this mean I have two more years or three more? I am unsure if my foundation certificate goes towards years remaining as I was given four years to begin with...any help would be appreciated!

    Hi,

For your foundation certificate did you receive funding from SFE? Also how many years have you studied in total?

    Thanks.

Yes, I was funded by SFE for my foundation certificate, so I've had funding for that year, plus the seven weeks or so I was enrolled onto my degree course.

    Thank you

    Hi,

We would then use both these years as previous study when you start a new course.

    So if your new course is 3 years then your calculation will be 3 + 1 = 4 - 2 = 2 years

This funding will be in 2nd and 3rd year with in your first year you receiving maintenance loan only.

You can also apply for compelling personal reasons, which can be done with sending in evidence from doctors, university etc.

If awarded then we can give you an extra year of funding.

    Thanks.
