I want to do economics at uni, however last ear I got a U and I'm in my 3rd year at college as and in my first year I completely messed around and got 3 Us.

Is it worth me applying to do economics? I know I can do better and I really like the subject, will my previous results hinder any chances even if I got good grades this year? Should I resit economics? Or should I just apply to do international business instead?

Please help any advice would be greatly appreciated!

If you got a U last year, is resitting this year even an option? Having a U in the subject you want to study will obviously make you a weak candidate as far as unis are concerned. However, if you have good grades in other relevant subjects (especially maths), it's possible some universities might overlook this.

If you really want to do economics, the best thing to do would be to contact universities before you apply to see if they would consider you. This way, you'll know whether or not applying is worthwhile before sending your application of.

Do bear in mind that even for international business, your previous U grades may be a problem, but you may have more chance of getting a place than applying for economics.
