I thought about trying it but I don't know if I want to go to Manchester university. Is it useful for going to other universities or does it only apply for Manchester and so if I didn't go there it would be a waste of time?

The 40 UCAS points are only applicable to Manchester, but everything else will still be helpful for your UCAS application as a whole. For instance, you get 1-2-1 guidance and help with your personal statement. The staff are more than happy if students decide that they want to go to a uni other than Manchester, if that's what's right for them :yep:

I would absolutely recommend that anyone who is eligible for the Manchester Access Program should apply. Even if you are not interested in Manchester Uni, they held so many useful workshops about finances, personal statements etc - they also offered 1-to-1 sessions to go over your personal statement

The MAP course also offers Decision Manchester which is like a mock application to just Manchester Uni's Admissions team, so you can find out before you send off your UCAS if you'd have an offer/interview/rejection from Manchester beforehand. I applied to Manchester knowing I'd get an interview because at the time it was a backup choice, which was probably the most useful part of the program.

If you ARE interested in the uni every student who completes the MAP course gets 40 UCAS points off their offer (usually a grade or two lower) and an annual scholarship of £1000 which is really nice to have. EDIT: The UCAS reduction and scholarship are only given if you apply for a course at The University of Manchester. The MAP team also send letters of recommendation to the other universities you apply to.

I applied to MAP on a whim and it was the most useful thing when applying to university (I'm now at Manchester with two scholarships from completing the program and don't have to teach myself to reference because MAP taught us that too!)

Hope this helped and best of luck if you apply - I forgot to mention it's really fun as well! The staff are all really supportive and helpful no matter what uni you're interested in applying to.
