Just wondered if anyone else got rejected by Caledonian? I got AABBC for my highers and I applied for International Business at Cally. I received unconditionals for Glasgow, Strathclyde and Heriott-Watt so was a bit perplexed by Cally's decision.
No I didn't bother calling, it was really only my safest bet anyway as I wanted to go to either Glasgow or Strathclyde. Its become a bit of a joke with my friends that I was overqualified but I think that it was just a popular course and also I deferred my entry so they probably found it a bit off-putting. Anyway, looks like I'll be heading to Glasgow uni in 2008....
No offence, if you're in at Glasgow, Strathclyde and Heriot Watt, I wouldn't be too worried about what nonsense Caley have decided to spout at you - all the other unis you mention are certainly better institutions...

What's the problem here, do you want offers from all uni's, just to inflate your ego, boo hoo, you didn't even want to go to Caley, so just decide on your other choices!!!!!
Actually I was rejected by 2 unis and i dnt have a problem with it and if i hadn't been accepted by the others i applied for then I would have happily gone to Cally. I was just was interested in Callys policies because i dont see why they rejected me and was wondering if anyone else had experienced the same thing as it seems unfair to reject people unless they fail to meet the entry requirements or write a bad personal statement.
And anyway, I don't see how asking a valid question boosts my ego in any way, shape or form.
It's a fair question, and I agree, it seems random.
I was told by one of the staff at Caley, on their open day, not to apply for one of their courses, even though I had grades that more than met the entry requirements - he recommended the equivalent course at Glasgow Uni.
I applied for Occupational therapy with ABBB and got Unconditionals for QMU in Edin and RGU in Aberdeen, both of which, no offense intended, are much better institutions than Cale, for the course I'm doing at least.
I asked for feedback, apperently my experience and personal statement weren't 'good enough'. *raised eyebrow*
A friend of mine got a conditional of one higher B for Computer Science at St. Andrews. His offer for a university near the bottom of every league table had much higher requirements. I'm sure it happens all the time.

I realise this initial post is out of date but the issue here is a narrow minded approach to the university. Within the business industry Caledonian Business school is held in very high regard, it is known that job opportunities for new graduates are brought to the attention of Caledonian lecturers early on before perhaps approaching the other Glasgow universities. One has to look past general university reputations, and even subject specific newspaper guides and look at what the industry is really saying.
HannahGatsby!
I am in the same boat.

As above, general university reputation isn't always relevant. There are plenty of subjects where Caledonian has a better reputation than the universities you have mentioned (especially RGU)

Yes. For the course I am applying for Rgu is better than Cale. Without doubt.
