My friend told me a while ago that some Cambridge colleges offered language classes to their non-language students if they wanted to continue their previous language studies or start a new language.

Does anyone know what this scheme is called and where I could find more information?

    Thanks

It's not colleges but the language centre by the university.

Also there're many international societies at Cambridge and many of them run informal language lessons by the students at very reasonable fees, too. Or if you're interested in their culture, most of them welcome non-nationals to join them, so that's another option for you to learn/brush up the language.
