How often do you go to church?

Are you a regular church-goer or do you only visit a few times a year?

One in seven adults in the UK attends a Christian church each month, with nearly three million more saying they would attend if only they were asked.

The findings of the survey also show that the UK is among Europe's four least observant countries, though 53% of those polled claim to be Christian.

Tearfund, who carried out the survey, said many more people would attend regularly if given the "right invitation."

What's your opinion of the survey? What would make you attend church more often? Do you consider yourself to be Christian?

Haven't been since Year 6 when I was forced to by my school, apart from 2 or 3 weddings & family things - but when I got a bit older, around 16 I think, my dad just said I didn't have to go to family things if I don't want to. So I've missed a wedding and 2 christenings so far.

I don't plan on going in the near future. I hate churches. I'd only go for a funeral, probably. Nothing would make me want to go more.

And no, I consider myself to be an atheist.
I used to attend church regularly every week until the age of about 20. Now I only enter a church if I am performing music in it.
My family used to go when I was a child. But personally I NEVER go. The only time I am seen in a church is if a cousin is getting christened/weddings or for a photo shoot. I simply don't see the point...
i am a christian and i try to go every week
although i do believe that alot of people are put off from going to church by how some christians go about telling people about God
When i was like 18 i didnt wanna no and people trying to force it on u is wrong and not the way to go about it.
Kate can i ask why u missed a wedding what has made chuirch so bad?

As often as I can, usually 3/4 times a week
Twice a week, but only because they pay me.
I try to go every week but my attendance has gone down lately.
Not as often as i should...my family goes on average about twice a month, and sometimes when my rents want to go i don't cause i'm too tired. When we lived in Africa we went every sunday without fail but i spose it's cause church was actually interesting and a social event there, our church here is freaking dull, i really don't like it. At least next year i'll be in London and be able to attend a gospel church.

I have been to church a few times this year to speak to the vicar about our wedding.
I always love it when I am there, and I would love to go more often if only I could find the time.
We have to go to church for 3 Sunday's before we are married and I am really looking forward to it. I think once we have done that I will want to go more often.

I just don't like churches, I don't like religion, I don't like the ceremony. I disagree with the idea of marriage in general; I feel like a hypocrite going. However, it's mainly just boring, and I'd rather not go. :P

I kind of lost interest after our pastor was defrocked for stealing money from a parishoner and having sex with another. (not at the same time )

LOLOLOL intriguing!

I'm an atheist, I suppose. But I usually go to church once a month with the Guides (I'm a Ranger/Young Leader). I don't mind it once I'm there, just the incense gets me. But the worst thing is getting up early on a Sunday. If it were even half an hour later I'd be fine with going every week!

I was forced to go every fortnight at secondary school but I've never been through choice.
Went once to have some water splashed on my face and a couple of more times when my junior school made me.

i use to go to sunday school, but now its only for weddings etc. At my uni religion is a big things and everyday we get sent emails about the chapel etc. I find this a lttle overwhelming, and i don't like to be pressurised. I just feel that you can believe what you want, when you want as long as your happy. Going to church doesn't make you better than someone who doesnt. I was christned when I was a baby, so i am a christian but I sometimes find it hard to belive all i should.

every sunday...huzzah!
