    Hi guys,

I was meant to start university this September, however I decided at the last minute to take a gap year, as I realised the course I had a place for wasn't right for me.

Do I need to talk about why I chose to take a gap year and what I'm doing during it in my personal statement? A description of what I'm doing in my gap year will already be in my reference, so do I need to write about what I'm doing again in my personal statement?

I'm reusing my personal statement from last year as the majority of it is still relevant, although I'm changing the course and some of the wording slightly. It is already just under the line limit (currently 46 lines), and I don't really want to take anything out of it in order to write about my gap year if I don't have to.

    Thanks in advance

If it's in your reference then don't worry about it unless there's something specific which helped develop your interest in the subject you're applying for or prep you for uni.

Thank you for replying! I asked my careers advisor from my sixth form and she said to just include a sentence or two on it in my personal statement, so that's what I've done.
