How safe is it out there at the moment?

I have been hearing of a lot of people leaving due to escalating violence.

Safe... Honestly it's one of those 'depends where you are?' things
But overall I'll say number of times you will most likely encounter a life threatening situation
    = 1/2

And apparently the violence is mainly coming from student protests (the police being the ones who are violent)

    I personally don't
but I wouldn't be surprised if someone has rigged something like that

Durban has had some pretty bad rioting. I know a guy who used to own 2 supermarkets and a farm up near Kokstad. They had now fled to Namibia to escape the violence and restart their lives.

When I was out on the farm in 2011 you always had to carry a gun, especially when you were out on the road.

He wasn't so much of my buddy but my boss.

    Joburg is just a ****hole.

I do love the South African countryside though, it is beautiful. The game reserves round Hluhlewe is a sight to behold.

I wish I could go back one day but I don't think I ever will. Too many bad memories.

Doubt I sound like Aussies m8

SA & Australia just trade lots of things
from education systems in posh schools to people
So I guess it's common to find an Aussie accent

 the #1 main official language is English
The uncommon to find signs in the other languages
Plus they have pictures so we safe if we don't know another language
