I'm talking about how people refer to that region as the horn of africa, would they stop calling it that?

Somaliland will still be there but a seperate state, so I'd still call it horn of Africa

No they aren't. The Horn of Africa includes Djibouti, Eritrea and Ethiopia too.

In any event, people will still refer to it as the Horn of Africa, no matter what the countries within it are called. It is descriptive and a good shorthand.

The Indian sub-continent didn't get renamed when Pakistan was included as a separate on its independence, and the British Isles are still called the British Isles, even though Eire isn't ruled by the British any more.
