In the Year 1/AS textbook for OCR Chemistry A, in the Chapter 6 practice questions (pg 84) there is a question (1ai) that asks you arrange the molecules below in order of increasing polarity set out as follows: CH2Br2, CH3I, CHCl2F,CF4The first molecule CH2Br2 surely has different polarities, depending on the arrangement of Hydrogen and Bromine around the Carbon. Should I take the polarity as 0 (i.e. suggesting that the Beryllium atoms are opposite in the tetrahedral shape) or 0.3 (i.e. suggesting that the Beryllium atoms are adjacent in the tetrahedral shape)?I have similar confusions about the third molecule. Thanks for any help

    It's bromine, not beryllium,

.. and you cannot have "opposite" in a tetrahedral arrangement, they are all equidistant apart (109º 28')
