Just the type of immigrants Brits prefer - White, low skilled, low net worth.
Excellent government policy - ahem

Immigration is only going to get higher simply from non-EU, middle east people moving here.
The world's environment is being degraded by "strong-today, gone tomorrow" economic vs. environmental policy, and the places where the environment was already the harshest and most desert-like are going to see people fleeing from those places to places like North America, Europe, and China/Japan.
In the long term the best way to prevent immigration is to prevent the causes of immigration, some of which are within our control, especially the longer-term ones. This means walk instead of drive, or public transport instead of drive, plant trees (easier in France than UK), eat chicken instead of beef, or eat shellfish or soy-based protein instead of meat (think of a farmer with 1000 cows as a vegan with 10000 kids), flush the toilet 1 in 3 times after a pee, don't shower every day, these can be personal choices which would make a huge dent in global warming.
This is what austerity, the real austerity, really is. Austerity on the personal level. Tory "austerity" is austerity for governments, while allowing gluttony for individuals. In that ideology, government is weak, financial power is strong, and environmental regulation of any kind whatsoever is threatened.
As a society we would be advised to pursue less aggressive foreign policy too, stop getting caught up in USA's oil wars and all that business with Assad.
Sectarian violence, oil wars between America and Russia, we can't control that. The best way we can help these guys is to figure out a way to help their desertification problem, which caused much of the recent turbulence.
Also we should Apply consumer pressure, trade-based sanctions to enforce sustainable palm oil in Indonesia, which is currently acting with criminality against this planet.
Yes, this has to do with immigration, but you will probably not find that out in the Telegraph.

It's because these migrants are being attracted to the way the government has turned the economy round, by taking the tough decisions on spending, helping transform us from a low pay, high tax and high benefit economy, to a high pay, low tax and low benefit economy. They know that Britain is getting back to work and is creating more jobs at a faster rate than ever before.
