I was thinking about an experiment: I reacted Magnesium and hydrochloric acid together and they formed magnesium chloride and hydrogen and counted every 30 seconds to measure the volume of H2 being produced. if I used half the concentration of HCl would I get half the volume of hydrogen produced every 30 seconds?

    Curiously, no.

With calcium carbonate, the answer would have been yes.
