I need to make notes on the structure and the double bond of alkenes, however I need to understand the consept of σ and π bonds to progress. I have yet to cover orbitals, and so this topic is quite confusing to me. I've looked up p-orbitals however I can't make much sense of it.
I sort of understand σ bonds, however I don't know how the π bonds work and how they keep the carbon atoms in position. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks 🙂
