    Are you thinking of cache?

But no, clearing the cache shouldn't delete anything held in the phone's permanent storage space.

Cache is a temporary file created by apps, so if you reopen it, you can quickly resume the session. Clearing cache only makes your apps longer to load when reopened. For example: if you open Facebook, then you want to see your friend's photos, then the photo is tenporarily downloaded (cached) to your device. If you clear the cache, you can still see it, but takes longer as it re-caches the photo.

No cache is some unwanted data got save in your phone. By removing it you can free memory space from your phone easily. It is better to remove it.
