like i have a friend who's REALLY picky, they're one of those people who, when asked to try a food, licks off one atom of the food and then screw up their faces in disgust...i have a feeling that there's more to this than just disliking and being picky.

What i think is that these people are scared of others watching them eat exotic food or eating food that's not theirs. it seems like they would be ruining their image for taking food from another person. because honestly, my friend just eats steak, potatos, and bread and shuns all other food, they even give me looks when i get hot food in school >_> SMH

I hate picky eaters. I feel uncomfortable inviting them to my house; wtf am I supposed to feed them.

I don't understand picky eaters, they are so ungrateful, there are people that would kill to have the food they disregard without a care, I mean it won't kill you, and even if it isn't up to scratch with your prestige taste buds, at least try to eat it, there are people that are starving out there, and would literally kill to be in your shoes.

This is what happens when someone gets too comfortable with their lifestyle, and forgets how the world really is. And just disrespects food like it's trash. It disgusts me.

In the past I would be like "Omg so annoying, it's just food fgs, just eat it!" but somehow more recently I have become such a picky eater and my mum is getting so annoyed with me. The only thing I eat is rice, everything else feels like an effort to swallow.I honestly don't know what is going on with me.

All the other foods in my life look so unappealing, toast is okay too,it's literally been like rice and toast, toast and rice, rice and toast...it has been my diet for weeks now. Everything else tastes awful. Tbh so does the toast....

    They don't mean to be!

You have just tarred all picky eaters with a brush.

Whatever, this society is just spoilt.

Go back to a country like Ethiopia then you'll know what being picky gets you.

One in nine people are suffering from chronic undernourishment.

When your rib cages starts touching then you'll be grateful that you can drink the water from your urinal.

I'm quite picky with food and I hate it. Sort of a hangover from childhood really. It means I'm only eating a handful of things for evening meals, just rotating through a few different meal options (I eat a few other things for breakfast, lunch and snacks). It's embarrassing at times, and it's one of a handful of reasons that I haven't even attempted dating once yet ("sorry, I don't like that, can we go to McDonald's for our first date instead?" isn't really going to work is it).

I don't think I'm ever going to be massively adventurous with food. But it would be nice to be able to go into most restaurants and easily find one or two things on the menu that I like. I've made slow progress since moving away for university, but nowhere near enough.

No, you're wrong. You can be a very grateful and charitable person and still be a picky eater. Technically a picky eater only wastes food if they are made to try something they don't want to try, if you leave them be with the food they are happy to eat then there is no problem

No, you're spoilt, you have the privilege of food at your doorstep. Yet people in this society would rather starve then have a sandwich from Sainsburys if it has "tomato" because tomato is "so ewww".

Please you're in denial, and what does being charitable have to do with a "picky eater"

How did you just call me spoilt? I AM NOT spoilt. whatever, you don't understand so there is no point even trying to make you.

I said you can be a charitable good person and still be a picky eater.

I saw your comment where you said you only eat only "rice and bread", what's wrong with you, you have the blessing of having good quality food imported for you, yet you rather live like a prison inmate on "rice and bread", be serious, you're spoilt.

It's like those middle class Chelsea guys you see that want to suddenly be part of the "ghetto" because they think there lives are hard.

But really they are delusional to how privileged to how they really are.

We think the grass is greener on the other side.

But you're both delusional and ungrateful to how fortunate you're.

I would find it really annoying. I could never be in a relationship with picky eater. I'm a real foodie and one of my favourite past times is going to new restaurants and trying things I've never eaten before. Also I think it's really rude to go to a restaurant or country that specialises in some specific cuisine and to pick CHIPS.
I mean WTF! **** off with your bland, nutritionally inbalanced, inelegant palate. :haughty:

That is the last thing on earth I would ever label myself as.

How are you comparing me to 'middle class chelsea guys'? I think you're delusional

I was quite picky as a child I think but have gotten less so as I have grown up. I hated a lot of things that had strong or unusual flavours like roe, taramasalata, sprouts etc, but love them now.

I find it pointless when people are fussy to the point where they won't try something they haven't eaten before, because they think they might not like it. If you don't like it then it's no big deal, no harm done. Or people who have tried something once, it wasn't very good so they write it off completely.

Eating is one of life's great pleasures, why restrict yourself/be intimidated when it comes to trying new things

Hate em, my gf will say she doesn't like something before she even sees it or its explained what it is.. she goes of the sound of the food. I hate going restaurants with her she takes ages to decide what to eat and holds up the person taking the order and to add insult to injury she will get the same dish she always has.
