Robotnik because he's like the Joker or a character from Shakespeare, there are so many different ways to play him. He can be a doofus, a madman, a genius, or just super rapey.

He has potential depth. Here's a guy who has landed on some planet of sentient animals and he doesn't want to kill them. He wants to encase them in robot forms of themselves. Why is that? He doesn't just want to be evil. Does he want to protect them? Does he want to create new beings in his own image? Does he have a God complex? Does he fear being alone? Why does he want to rule the world by masking all life on it? What happened in his life to make him this way?

Plus he's an important part of the overall message of loving nature and that. Until they ****ed it up after the real Sonic games and added in a load of hedgehogs and slut bats and suddenly now it's set on Earth in the real world with humans.

If only all of that could be explored these days...

I voted Eggman/Robotnik too, though mostly because his voice actor does such a good job.

Based on the named list, its Albert Wesker from resident evil series, closely followed by Dr. Eggman. Another great villains which are not listed in the poll are Joker from Arkham series and Ganondorf from Zelda games.

Plus a scientist which was created by another one by cloning him, if I am not mistaken. That is great!
