colour can be defined as the wavelength of light an object emits or reflects
the sun emits white light; THE SUN IS WHITE
The sun doesn't reflect any light. the absence of light is darkness, which is black: THE SUN IS BLACK
What colour is the sun? just for fun I am going to say black.

it only appears yellow due to the way the light interacts with the atmosphere

While the Sun does emit radiation of almost all frequencies, the intensity of the radiation peaks near yellow thus giving the appearance that sunlight is yellowish white.
Added to that is Rayleigh scattering from the Earth's atmosphere making it look yellow during noon and red during sunset.

The sun itself can be thought of as a blackbody but not as being black since even though it doesn't reflect light it does emit light.

Why do you say the sun would reflect no light?
