Hi everyone this is my first post. I am 23 and haven't studied since I was 18. I did a BTEC First Diploma in ICT when I left school but felt I couldn't continue after completing that, due to personal circumstances, which in hindsight shouldn't have affected my education.

I have always wanted to study in I.T so that I can make a successful career within the field, but I sort of gave up on the dream after the personal issues I mentioned. I am now older and wiser and feel positive and ready to get back into it, work hard and eventually study a degree.

My college do access courses but there is not an access course for I.T. I was advised by their head of I.T, and the head of access courses, that the Access to Business course was the ideal route for me to take and it would allow me to study I.T at degree level afterwards. Is this really true? Can I do an access course in one subject area, and then study a different degree? I asked them and they said yes of course, but I want to make absolutely sure that I get this right!

Also, what are everyones thoughts on studying degree level at college instead of university? My college offer HNC and HND I.T which I gather is equal to a degree (together), is that correct?

    Thank you.
