Prediction - India will win the World Cup in Englad 2019 :beard: and we will finally win at least one test series away from home with Kohli as the captain.

India already won in Sri Lanka a few months ago though so we're already halfway towards those predictions!

So, supposedly, the India Pak series has been put forward by BCCI to PCB to take place in December in India... not exactly concrete yet and I don't fully expect it to take place.

Still find it really absurd that Shahryar is pleading for a series and not the other way around, it seems like a one way conversation, should atleast keep some dignity. Plus, I wouldn't personally advise the PAK players to travel to India on saftey grounds, UAE would've been ideal.

I think it was always scheduled to take place in December but no chance now, too late to get things in place. But in regards to your latter point, India should be visiting the UAE for the series which is a safe venue yet they want to make it another home series because it makes the most money. Suck it up and go to where Pakistan have to play. Outside of the big three, other nations are already deprived of cricket as it is, not helped when teams wiggle out of touring when they are supposed to. It's a one way conversation because Pakistan, rightly, want to know what India want to and publicly, they seem to be staying very quiet.

On yesterday game, England have an entertaining opening partnership, unlike the Test team. I do wonder whether Compton was harshly discarded, seems to have the best stats since Strauss but dropped after a few poor scores in New Zealand iirc

Compton's England career was bizarre. Got a bunch of starts without kicking on in India, then a couple of centuries in New Zealand, before a bunch of failures at home to New Zealand. Not like he's kicking the door down in first class cricket though, his record since being dropped is no more than okay, and (like Hales tbf) the bulk of his runs have come at no.3.

Not just cricket with Compton though. There are rumours that he's difficult to work with and didn't fit with the 'culture' of the side, which we were very keen on banging on about in any KP discussion. There's also a story that in one test he was injured and said he couldn't field but scans showed very minimal damage which pissed off the coaches. I obviously don't know the full facts though.

With hindsight it seems we should have stuck with him a bit longer though. Same goes for Carberry, who actually had harsher treatment imo. He had an alright record against some of the best bowling I've seen in 'Johnson's Ashes', and then got discarded without a clear explanation.

I guess so, and regarding that series, PCB confirmed the news of the series today.

Hang on, 'BCCI offers PCB bilateral series in India' on CricInfo but Shaharyar insists it was due to be played in UAE according to their agreement.

Yesssss deffo series of the year if it is going to go ahead
I would probably care about Taylor and Williamson's knocks if Starc hadn't just gone and bowled ****ING 160.4 CLICKS :excited:

Speed gun error I reckon.

Quick balls in isolation are often underwhelming anyway, like Akhtar bowling at 100mph just for Nick Knight to flick it off his hips with ease. The beauty of fast bowling is in its spells.

After Zaheer Khan was clocked at 170kph I'm not believing anything :colonhash:

Starc's just didn't look right. You can tell sometimes, Shaun Tait bowled a spell against Pakistan that just looked rapid. This didn't. Didn't watch the whole spell though, if he was pushing 160kph before then fair enough, but if it was in isolation then I'm not buying it.
Just watched the All Stars game in its entirety, have to say, was a good watch. But if you can't make it fun hitting sixes in a baseball ground then you're in trouble. Warne, before hitting the winning runs, must have said to Ponting "mate, Liz is watching, let me score the winnings runs!"

And Ganguly's hair, frightening! Needs to visit Rooney's hair specialist.

Clearly the three games was more for the players having a chill out and reminiscencing about the old times than widening cricket's appeal in America.

Amen, brother.
Taylor 290?!?!?! What a comeback innins by the NZ team. Gonna be a good match . respek to both teams
The pitches in Aus-NZ test series are an absolute disgrace.
'Johnson retires from International Cricket' :frown:
Can't actually believe he retired, was one of the key figures for the Australian team for a couple of years. Good luck to him for the future though... It'll be a bit weird not seeing him run up for the side anymore.
