I have been looking at the fees for studying in Scotland and it is free for Scottish students however English students have to pay £9000 a year to study in Scotland. However, what is pathetic is that EU students get to study for free in Scotland so it is only English students that have to pay...

The problem isn't that Scots get free tuition, it's that EU students get free tuition there too whilst the English have to pay

It's because of a bit of EU law that has had unintended consequences. The law is that you're not allowed to discriminate against people from other member states, but students from England, Wales and NI are considered to be from the same member state. The Scottish government has then exploited this loophole to give their own students and EU students free tuition, but keep the £££ rolling in from RUK students.
