I volunteer for age uk doing hospital aftercare so i go to their homes, chat with them, have a cup of tea etc. I have been looking at permanant vacancies within age uk as i am looking to move away from where i live once I've graduated from university. I will have volunteered for 2 years when i graduate, so will this make me a very good candidate for the company to have a permanant position? I will also have a degree as well.
    Thanks.

    Yes.

If they are not adhering to equal ops, it will either make no difference (because someone's nephew will get the job) or because they'll just give it to you (cronyism in your favour).

If they are adhering to equal ops, when they are short-listing you will be able to demonstrate relevant experience on your application, so you should get short-listed for interview. At interview, you'll be able to give relevant examples of when you have demonstrated the skills and aptitudes you are looking for. When they come to make a selection, you should have been able to demonstrate all the essentials and desirables. If you don't get the job, it's because you were up against someone even more qualified and experienced or you messed up the interview big time.

This is always the case; the same goes for temporary jobs through an agency, but these things cannot be guaranteed.
