Is a GoPro (or similar camera) worth it for non extreme activities

Hi guys,

I am interested in buying a GoPro but I am trying to see if I actually need it or if I just want it.

I don't really do any extreme sports or anything but now I've saved up some money I would like to go travelling, visit different cities, countries etc. As well as that, I will be hopefully going on some more active holidays (e.g kayaing, skiing, etc).

In this sense, it seems like a Go Pro could be worth it, but at the moment these are just ideas.

Do you guys have/use GoPro's for things that don't involve extreme sports?

Is it even worth buying one of these types of cameras or is it best to just stick with my phone?

I don't have a huge interest in video editing, etc but the images and videos these action cameras give make it look quite cool to have one.

What do you guys think?
