Expand out the brackets and simplify the resulting left hand side. Then solve as usual.

(Simplify [12x-3x])

9x-24+18x=3
(Simplify [9x+18x])

27x-24=3
(-3)

27x=27
(Divide 27 by 27x)

x=1
