Do you genuinely want to mourn for the Parisians or do you just want a day to spend in your underpants watching Netflix?

France already has the lowest work week hours in the world. If the UK did something similar it would be less about having holidays and more about how such a holiday would affect the economy.

We had one in 1965 and another in 1997. We're probably not due another until about 2029.

Anyway, given the shopping frenzy that occurs on Xmas Eve and Boxing Day, if we had the shops shut for three days there'd be riots and mass panics and people looting their neighbour's kitchens for cans of spaghetti hoops and turkey twizzlers.
