I see. Well, try harder then.

Sarcasm is extremely ugly.

I've played racing games for as long as I can remember. The first game I ever got addicted to was Geoff Crammonds Grand Prix 4 and I remember spending hour after hour sitting infront of my computer playing that game with a steering wheel.

Since then the majority of time I spend playing games is spent with a proper wheel playing racing games. Now at not point in these games am I driving in a manner that could be viewed as safe for the road, and quite frankly after spending so many years on racing simulators I am, in the virtual world, a pretty ****ing good racing driver.

So how come in reality I've been driving for 7 years and have never been involved in an accident or received any points on my license, and when I've done trackdays have been incredibly slow.

By your logic my experience of playing as a racing driver should have turned me into a racing driver.

Of course it's not healthy to be sat in front of a screen playing video games, just like it's not healthy to be on your laptop for hours on end, just like it's not healthy to watch TV for hours on end.

This is one of the stupidest posts I've ever read. How many videogames do you think Saddam Hussein played? Do you think Hitler perfected his gas recipe by playing Cooking Mama? Do you think Napoleon prestiged on Call of Duty? Do you think Ian Brady was driven to murder because he couldn't 'follow the damn train CJ'?

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

It's unlikely for me to spend more than 2-3 hours on my laptop per week, this is the first time i've come on here properly in months now. It's also very unlikely for me to sit down and watch TV.

You're not being taught anything good or educational from that, therefore it's vile and awful.
Why not ban films with violence or graphic content?
And books that contain anything like that.
Ban porn because anyone that watches that will be brainwashed into thinking that's normal.
Ban news articles that show suffering of any form.

As it has been said, it depends on the parents. When I was young my parents would only let me play educational games (who remembers zoombinis ) When I got older I started playing other games that I admit would not have been appropriate for a 10 year old.

Felt I should break this up into a second reply.

1) Let's not even go into how there has never been a reputable study that shows any link between violent video games and violent behaviour for normal people. Yes it can be shown that a tiny, tiny segment of the population can be negatively influenced by violent video games but those who are are also susceptible to being influenced by any other form of media.

2) There is a reason why violent video games have an age rating applied to them. Grand Theft Auto is incredibly violent but it's also an 18. So if kids are playing these games then how is that the fault of anybody other than the parent who has bought the game for them?

Is this serious? Do you really think extremist groups meet up in their spare time and play call of duty?

Actually in a documentary I watched a while ago it showed a place where a young isis member had been staying, in his drawers was a set of violent video games amongst the Quaran and other books etc.

Of course I don't think that is the reason, but surprisingly the do actually own video games...
lmao

I genuinely agree with you and it seems like I'm the only person who does which is kinda worrying. :s-smilie: I don't think video games such as Call of Duty should exist and infact I was so surprised at the level of violence in that game the first time I played. Why are young children being taught + encouraged that it is okay to kill another person in the most awful way possible? It's also so concerning that the way in which you win the game is by inflicting the highest amount of violence. Surely to prevent violence in the real world we should prevent promoting it in the first place? Despite the fact it is virtual, I personally don't think that it's helpful to society in any way. Yes, there is an 18 rating age restriction thingy but clearly that isnt working effectively and anyway, I dont even think adults shouldn't be playing it. What kind of example are they setting for the younger generation?... That if things don't go our way the best thing to do is throw a grenade and stab someone multiple times¿ ...what is the actual benefit to such games?

I couldn't really care less about the fact that the percentage of people on here don't agree with me, I have my opinion and I will stand by that.

Let me firstly say that I am not saying that anybody who plays games on their XBOX, playstation, etc.. or whatever it may be, are terrorists or are going to become one.

What I am saying, is that if I was in charge of this country then I would completely ban ALL video games that involved any form of violence, and anything involving harming one another.

Anybody playing on these games are being brainwashed into thinking that it's normal to follow out these vile acts, how can we teach people that violence and terrorism is wrong when it's completely legal to play on video games where you're being rewarded and being taught that it's ok to be doing those things?

How narrow minded. As a girl I played 4 of the games in the Grand Theft Auto series growing up, mostly at my nana's playing it with my sister and uncle an we were all under 16 and nobody in my family has a criminal conviction. Where are you getting the facts or is this just your opinion?

Why is that a surprise? Young people all over the world play video games, doesn't matter where you're from or what fictional man you believe in, video games are still a fun way to pass the time.

It's why it makes my blood boil every time there's a shooting in the states and the press come out with a story about how the killer played violent video games, because they say it like we should believe that he killed because he played those games, while conveniently neglecting to mention the fact that 99.999999999% of people who play those kind of games will never kill anybody!

Mother****ing zoombinis, god damn I loved that game!

Never thought i'd be so surprised to see that someone agrees with me, ha!.

But yes, you're right and I don't understand how people aren't understanding this. I've seen these games for myself and it's horrific, it's completely normal to cause harm upon others, to blow eachothers brains out and be rewarded from it. What are people getting from that? and if that entertains people then they must have a few issues within themselves.

Personally I get a thrill from seeing people happy, calmness, and kindness. Not violence and terror.
