No, I - and everyone else - don't know about every single atrocity that happens in the world.

Neither do we care that much either.

This is one of the biggest terrorist attacks in a long time, in what is supposed to be a safe country, a country close to us and the nature of the attack is relevant to us as well because we are part of the war against ISIS.

Of course it's bigger news to the majority of Western countries than an attack in Sri Lanka

do you know about what's happening in Iraq? I'm sure you don't... because everyone knows about what happens in their 'home' and nothing else. Currently we live in Britain so we get news about everything related to us, Paris is so close to us. If you lived in Sri Lanka you'd know about what's happening in your part of the world.

We are now afraid that this could happen in the UK anytime and we have been told it's expected there will be more attacks in Europe. Security forces in the UK are watching out for terrorists right now. When something happens in Sri Lanka, we don't worry about us being next in the UK. People need to stop acting like an attack on the other side of the world is as relevant to us as ISIS attacking European countries. This affects us personally, what happens in Sri Lanka or Lebanon doesn't.

Which of these events is going to be of more relevance to you?

A neighbour two doors down from you having their house burn down to the ground.

Or

A person in Australia having their house burn down.
