I'm looking to study abroad for semester 2 of next year (which will be my 2nd year at uni, I'm currently in halls) but this makes finding housing complicated. Manchester Student Homes have advised against renting as I may not be able to find a replacement tenant and would have to continue paying, as well as the costs of studying abroad and having to pay accommodation there too.

Anyone with a similar experience found a way around this? Ideally don't want to end up in halls again - I love it but wouldn't want to be 'that second year' in with all the freshers when everyone else is getting houses.

Cheers

The only ways I've seen it done are
a) find someone who will be abroad in the opposite semester to you and go into the same house
B) look for someone looking for a replacement tenant (likely to be most successful for those going away in first semester as you don't want to be saddled with second semester too)
