Bocconi or HEC Paris, which is better for IB?

I'm a graduated lawyer from Filnand, and I am aiming at a career in IB. Now I am thinking about which master degree would give me a best chance. Best UK universities seem to require first degree in a related subject, so now I think my best choices would be MSc in finance in Bocconi, or Master in management at HEC.
Could someone who knows the field give any ideas to help my choice.

Friend, I see you asked a similar question yourself, and no one gave you such answers. I would have adviced you if I knew anything about chemical engineering or the two unis you were asking about.

"Chemical Engineering at BATH or UCL? I'm not sure which one to pick as my firm. I only care about job prospects after the degree and would like to work in the finance field. Which uni would be better for me?"

All the best, really, I hope you will make a good decision!

I met lots of applicants from Bocconi and none from HEC, so on the basis of this hardly scientific analysis I would go for that.
I know little about these universities, but I would choose HEC personally - best management school in Europe, you can't go wrong.
Either choice would be very good - I'd go for Bocconi because I prefer the country. They also offer courses taught in English although that might apply to HEC as well . . .

Cheers MonteCristo and fuglyduckling!
I'm leaning just a bit towards Bocconi, mainly because it is more specialized, though some HEC graduates have definitely done well in finance. I think it was also "best in finance" according to FT 2005 ranking, but I guess that must mean best in finance among master in management courses, not compared to specialized finance courses.
I am also considering the option to do acc&fin diploma at LSE and then proceed to Master level, but I really hate the idea of paying £15000+ for a diploma.
**** LSE - if it costs more than Bocconi, I wouldn't bother! Bocconi would get you into IB just fine provided the rest of your app is okay

watch out! Master in Bocconi = 2 years. i think, as master stands for specialistica.. and u know italy there is the 3+2 system. 3 bachelor + 2 master. Not 100% sure though. U better check.

Yes. MSc in Bocconi is 2 years, but I don't really mind, because so is Master in management at HEC.
Are you from Bocconi yourself, your location says Milano?

If money/time is not a constraint, go for either:

1. LSE - 2 year MSc in Economics (you can shift to MSc in Finance and Econ in the 2nd year)

2. Cambridge - Diploma in Economics (1 year) + MPhil in Economics/MPhil. in
Finance.

You can't go wrong with either of these.

These league tables are probably the most subjective indicators you'll come across. If you checked another one, it will be completely different to this one. Fact is, there really is not much difference in the quality of teaching between the top 10-15. It therefore boils down to the reputation of that particular institution.

Personally, I feel these rankings are a load of bullcrap. If I were to do an MBA from Europe, I wouldn't even consider any place other than LBS.
Who is talking about an MBA? He was asking about an MSc in Management which are 2 different courses.

The strong players stay the same, or have you heard of a business school with mediocre MSc but outstanding MBA programmes?

If you 'wouldn't even consider' places like INSEAD, you clearly don't have a clue and you should take it upon yourself not to dispense advice to other people

To the original poster: Bocconi and HEC are excellent, utterly first-rate schools for continental Europe.
