hiya,
i worked at the 'drug for 6 years as a part-timer so i hope this will be of some help. wear smart trousers and a blouse/smart top for the interview. if you've got experience as a sales asst then they'll ask questions like when have you helped someone in the past....if a customer came up to you and asked for something, what would you say?.....why do you want to work here?...nothing difficult. they'll also (if it's like my store) send you off with a form to fill in. you go onto the shop floor and ask the others assistants to help you find where things are, and you have to introduce yourself to everyone, and find out what jobs they do. it's just to show them that you can be friendly and helpful and work as a team. make sure to smile loads and have a positive attitude. it isn't bad for a part time job at all, good pay scale for retail and loads of courses you can do to work your way up. generally really friendly people to work with too.

hope that helps

Thankyou. That was really helpfull. When you say smart trousers do you mean black smart trousers or jeans? When I was at interviews before everybody else was wearing jeans so I don't want to seem over dressed.

i wouldnt wear jeans. wear trousers.
you will look more proffessional and look like you want the job. people wearing jeans to interviews.....depending on the job obviously. look like they not too bothered about it.

dont wear what others wear, you want to stand out from the crowd!

Thanks for your advice. I went wearing smart black trousers and it seemed to go ok. I find out if I've got the job on Friday so fingers crossed. I've got another interview tomorrow though.
oh that's good to hear
you have ANOTHER interview tomorrow?!
hope it goes well though

btw...did you go to your local store and ask if there were any vacancies :s-smilie:

Yep. I went round town and loads of shops had signs in the windows advertising vacancies. I just handed my CV into most of them and filled in application forms for the rest. Don't worry if loads of people are applying. I handed a CV into Woolworths because they didn't have any appliation forms left and they still asked me to go in for an interview.

I was supposed to have an inerview at woolworths today but it has been postponed till next week cuz of something happening in the shop.
wow, u must live in a good area for there to be loads of vacancies
nothing comes up in london!

Yep. I live in Blackpool so there isn't that many people fo rthe number of shops because there are so many tourists in summer and there are a lot more people living in London.

I got the job so I'm not going to the other interview.

Not sure if jeans would work, try wearing a suit, remember first impressions count

Something along the lines of you are aware it's a successful company and think you have the skills to provide the quality of standards required. You can talk about wanting to be part of a friendly and welcoming working in a lively atmosphere and talk about how you like interacting with a variety of customers everyday
