How can I make my hair look/feel lighter?

By lighter I mean weight not colour, my hair is so thick its annoying!!

Its almost perfectly straight but I do use straightners to make it properly straight but it always looks so heavy and thick and I really dont like it.

When my hairs just washed and brushed it feels and looks a lot nicer than it does once dry, when its dry (even with nothing on it) it just looks like a mass on my head whatever I do too it. When I go to get it cut my hairdresser always comments on how thick it is and thins it but it still feels thick to me...

is there anything people can suggest?

Thanks

Fructis serum (Sleek & Shine?), it has a round green bottle and a pump
Tell your hairdresser to thin it more?
Pantene do a good volumising shampoo, conditioner and mousse. I've been using that and it's amazing.

OP, i feel ya honey! my hair is just ridiculous, the hairdresser spends ages thinning it but it doesn't make hardly any difference. every person that has cut my hair since i was about 10 has made fun of how much hair i have on my head!

i am interested in people's thoughts too..
when your hair's wet, put some volumising mousse and blowdry.

Get your hairdresser to thin it out as much as they can with the thinning scissors and use some mousse when blow drying your hair out it should give it some lift giving it a more lighter feeling.

Either that or go for a shorter length as your hair could be a little too long.

I use to use a lot of shampoo but I realize that it makes your hair really frizzy and thick I have only used conditioner for a while now and my hair looks a lot lighter in weight
